The Exchequer in the SCA is the treasurer, and there are Exchequers at the local, baronial, kingdom and society levels. The term exchequer comes from medieval England, when the Exchequer was established to handle financial matters for the crown. The offices of the Exchequer in medieval England included the Exchequer of Receipt, charged with collecting taxes, and the Exchequer of Pleas, a court established for hearing financial matters. Our Exchequers handle all financial matters, including the collection of revenues as well as expenditures. The Exchequer, like other officers, makes a report at populace meetings and files quarterly and annual reports to the Kingdom Exchequer.
Our local Exchequer is Chrysanthos of Thebes.
